Professor Svetlana Slapsak is professor in Anthropology of the Ancient Worlds and Anthropology of Gender Co-ordinator, ISH (Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis), Ljubljana Graduate School in Humanities.
Her recent awards and grants include: American PEN Award Freedom to Write 1993, CEU Prague Research Grant 1993-4, The Foundation for Hellenic Culture Corr. Member 1993, Laurie NJ Chair in Women's Studies 1994-5, Rutgers University, Helsinki Watch Helmann-Hammett Award, 2000; Helen Prize, Montreal, 2001.
Prof Slapsak has been visiting professor at EHESS, Paris, 1999. Fellow-in-Residence at NIAS, Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences, Wassenaar, 1999-2000.
She was an invited researcher at Max Planck Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte in Berlin, 2000. Furthermore, she has been Directeur de recherche at CNRS, Paris, lab. Centre Louis Gernet-EHESS (February-August 2003).Her recent books include:
